Proven4 proudly welcomes Team USA bobsled athlete Colin Coughlin to Team P4! Proving that possessing the will to succeed and perseverance to overcome adversity always pays off in the end, Coughlin battled his way up the ranks of Team USA’s bobsled team after what he called a tough first three years in the sport. “I’ve been able to fight through it, even though it’s been tough,” he told us. “But [the experience] has taught me to grow.”
Coughlin began his college career on the football field at Springfield College in Massachusetts. But after attending a bobsled combine in Lake Placid, New York following his rookie season, he realized his passion was on the ice, not the gridiron. Following his gut to switch sports clearly led him in the right direction, and that type of intuition is something he’s continued to rely on to advance his career as a bobsled pilot.
“You have to go by what you feel on the sled, because if you go by visual cues, it’s too late,” Coughlin explains. “You have to be ready to rely on your instinct.”
Coughlin has been putting in the O.T. in the gym and on the ice to ensure he’ll earn a chance to compete at the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics. “My goal is to win an Olympic medal,” he says. “I know I have a long way to go and that it’ll take a lot of work, but I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get there.”
And his go-to sports supplements to fuel his training and recovery — Proven4.
Why P4? For starters, Pre Game Formula, Energy Formula, and Recovery Push Formula are all NSF Certified for Sport. Meaning, the ingredients in each respective formula contain no banned substances according to World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) guidelines. “For [Team] U.S. athletes, you have to be careful about what you take,” he says. “P4 is developed specifically for athletes to perform better and perform safely.”
Another reason? P4 supps get the job done. “Prior to finding P4, I was using a different product, and I would start to fade around four to five hours into my workout.”
Here’s Coughlin’s Proven4 regimen:
P4 Pre Game Formula: 30 min. before a workout on heavy lifting days
P4 Energy Formula: Four hours into a workout on conditioning days
P4 Recovery Push: Immediately after workout
