Valerie Smith was a standout volleyball player at Adrian College and a member of Team USA’s volleyball squad in 2010. And since making the transition from volleyballer to bobsled athlete, the Wyandotte, Michigan native has continued to progress and impress athletically. Smith’s next major challenge: compete at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
“I love [bobsled] and have realized that if you focus on what you really want to do there is nothing that can stop you from getting there,” she told us.
Understanding that the journey to the Olympics will be a long and arduous task, Smith has developed a hardcore plan of attack.
“During the off-season I train five to six days per week anywhere from three to five hours per day,” she said. “In-season I’m training six days per week about eight to 10 hours per day.”
